CHAPTER 18

David’s Further Conquests

· David defeated the Philistines, Moab, Syrians, etc

· Lord preserved Davis wherever he went

· The king of Ammon died and his son took his place

· The king of Ammon had been good to David

· David wanted to show KINDNESS to the king of Ammon’s son.

· So David sent envoys to Hanun (the son of Hahash, king of Ammon who had died).

· Hanun’s princes acted with SUSPICION and said:

o Do you think David really wants to honor you?

o Probably his servants are just coming to spy out your land.

o So they took David’s envoys and HUMILIATED THEM.

· David’s response to his army and the Lord

o Be of good courage

o Be strong

o Why: For our people

o For the cities of God

o AND may the Lord do what is right in HIS sight.

· David again won.
