1 CHRON 14-15 OBSERVATIONS

CHAPTER 14

David Established At Jerusalem

1 Chronicles 14:2 (NASB) ²And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted, for the sake of His people Israel.

· Note: God exalts leaders for the sake of His people.

Philistines Defeated

1 Chronicles 14:10 (NASB) ¹⁰David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will You give them into my hand?” Then the LORD said to him, “Go up, for I will give them into your hand.”

1 Chronicles 14:14 (NASB) ¹⁴David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees.

· Note: David regularly inquired of God before making major decisions…and God answered him and gave him success as long as he did.

CHAPTER 15

Ark Brought to Jerusalem

1 Chronicles 15:2 (NASB) ²Then David said, “No one is to carry the ark of God but the Levites; for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of God and to minister to Him forever.”

· Note: After the incident with Uzza’s death, David was very precise about obeying God’s commands.

Note: this is reinforced when David takes time to explain to the leaders why God did what He did to Uzza:

1 Chronicles 15:13 - 15 (NASB) ¹³“Because you did not carry it at the first, the LORD our God made an outburst on us, for we did not seek Him according to the ordinance.” ^…... ¹⁵The sons of the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles thereon, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the LORD.
