CHAPTER 16

The Lord the Psalmists Portion in Life and Deliverer in Death

Psalms 16:1 - 11 (NASB) ¹ Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You.
² I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good besides You.”
³ As for the saints who are in the earth, They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight. ⁴ The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, Nor will I take their names upon my lips.
⁵ The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. ⁶ The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me. ⁷ I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. ⁸ I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
⁹ Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.
¹⁰ For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to ^£undergo decay.
¹¹ You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

CHAPTER 17

Prayer for Protection

1. Purposed: that my mouth will not transgress
2. Kept from paths of violent
3. Called upon You
4. Psalms 17:8 - 10 (NASB) ⁸ Keep me as ^£the apple of the eye; Hide me in the shadow of Your wings ⁹ From the wicked who despoil me, My deadly enemies who surround me. ¹⁰ They have closed their unfeeling heart, With their mouth they speak proudly.

CHAPTER 18

Praise for giving Deliverance

4. Psalms 18:25 - 27 (NASB) ²⁵ With the kind You show Yourself kind; With the blameless You show Yourself blameless; ²⁶ With the pure You show Yourself pure, And with the crooked You show Yourself ^£astute. ²⁷ For You save an afflicted people, But haughty eyes You abase.

CHAPTER 19

The Works and Will of God

1. Psalms 19:1 - 14 (NASB) ¹ The heavens are telling of the glory of God;

a. And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

2. ² Day to day pours forth speech,

a. And night to night reveals knowledge.

3. ³ There is no speech, nor are there words;

a. Their voice is not heard.

b. ⁴ Their ^£line has gone out through all the earth,

c. And their utterances to the end of the world.

4. In them He has placed a tent for the sun,

a. ⁵ Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber;

b. It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.

c. ⁶ Its rising is from one end of the heavens,

d. And its circuit to the other end of them;

e. And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

5. ⁷ The law of the LORD is ^£perfect,

a. restoring the soul;

6. The testimony of the LORD is sure,

a. making wise the simple. ⁸ The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;

7. The commandment of the LORD is pure,

a. enlightening the eyes.

8. ⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean,

a. enduring forever;

9. The judgments of the LORD are true;

a. they are righteous altogether.

b. ¹⁰ They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold;

c. Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.

d. ¹¹ Moreover, by them Your servant is warned;

e. In keeping them there is great reward.

10. ¹² Who can discern his errors?

11. Acquit me of hidden faults.

12. ¹³ Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins;

a. Let them not rule over me;

13. Then I will be ^£blameless,

14. And I shall be acquitted of great transgression.

15. ¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.

CHAPTER 20

Prayer for Victory over Enemies

1. May the
1. Lord answer you in day of trouble
2. Name of God set you securely on high
3. Send you help from Zion.
4. Lord remember all your meal offerings
5. Lord grant you your heart’s desire
6. Lord fulfill all your counsel
7. Lord fulfill all your petitions
8. King answer us in the day we call

2. Set up our banners
3. Now I know…
1. Lord saves His aointed
2. Answers from His hold heaven
4. Psalms 20:7 (NASB) ⁷ Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God.
   
1. PRAYER: God help me not to boast in "chariots and horses" but in Your "Name" alone!
